Candidates for 10 November Parish Council Election

There are two candidates standing for election to the Parish Council – Lisa Hewett & George Hillier.

Lisa Hewett

Hello!  I am Lisa Hewett and I am standing for election to our Parish Council.

I am a local businesswoman with lots of past experience on school committees and with Cirencester Town Council Events Team, helping to  organise the Advent Festival and Fleece Fayre.

As a Councillor I would like to see a safe cycle route from here to Cirencester and assist our Council in securing one of the grants available to improve our local outdoor facilities.

Please vote for me at the Village Hall on Thursday 10th November.

Thank you

Lisa Hewett

George Hilliar

I moved to Top Farm, Kemble in 2017, since then I have taken an active interest in village life and affairs, almost immediately taking part in contributing to developing the Village Plan.  Since then, I have been involved with the care and upkeep of Top Farm, working with residents and contractors to ensure it is kept to the same high standard of the rest of the village.  I have represented Top Farm at several Parish and Community meetings to ensure the development is supportive of the village after some initial concerns with Top Farm being developed and the impact of additional homes on the village.

If elected to the Parish Council I am keen to focus on road safety through both Kemble and Ewen villages.  I have previously raised concerns with election campaign representatives regarding the speed of vehicles in our villages, meeting with Cllr Lisa Spivey to discuss my concerns when she made a site visit to the village to hear my concerns and suggestions.  I also feel passionately about working to make pedestrian crossing of the A429 safer.  In addition, I would like to focus on how we can improve safety for pedestrians and cyclists travelling on the road between Kemble and Ewen villages.

I would also like to look at the potential for more foot/cycle paths around the village especially with access to both Cirencester and Tetbury using the old railway lines.

After a full service in the military and a career in construction for the past 20 years I have the skills, knowledge and experience to add value to our fabulous local community and village life.

Please vote for me at the Village Hall on Thursday 10th November 2022.

Thank you,

George Hilliar
