Kemble Parish Council covers Kemble, Ewen and Kemble Wick. Membership comprises nine councillors who are elected for a four-year term and a part-time salaried clerk who is appointed by the Council. Meetings are held regularly on the second Tuesday of each month in the village hall.
Residents are welcome to attend as observers or to raise specific points by prior notification to the clerk. An additional annual meeting is held each spring where representatives of the Parish, District and County councils give a report to residents. This takes the form of an open meeting where residents can ask questions or comment on the items on the agenda. Dates and agendas for all meetings are posted on the notice boards at the village hall, the shop and the bus shelter at Ewen. The Parish Council is directly responsible for the maintenance of the churchyard and cemetery, the playing field, children’s play area and specific grassed areas.
The Parish Council is also consulted by the District Council on local planning applications and it works closely with District and County Councils on footpath and highway maintenance, road safety and street lighting.
It liaises with the School Governors and with the County Constabulary. On a wider front it seeks to represent the best interests of residents with other authorities and organisations. Residents are encouraged to contact the Council on any relevant matters of concern.
Funding is via the Council tax and the Parish Council publishes and works to an Annual Business Plan.
